LZI provided building enclosure design peer review and construction administration service for the new three and four-level, 121,515 GSF residence building housing 478 students, and a two-level, 12,457 GSF administration building of construction Type IIB and IIIB, respectively. The residential building featured a roof-top terrace deck and is the CSU system’s first net zero energy LBC Petal certified residential building. The administrative building design features included 100% Redlist-free construction materials, and a focus on native landscaping, biodiversity and user controllability. The project was delivered using a design-build approach, and the entire project achieved LEED Platinum status. LZI completed design peer review of the below grade waterproofing, exterior wall cladding (insulated cement plaster with AWB), windows in punched-openings and storefronts, sheet metal flashings, concrete eyebrows with traffic coating, low-slope roofing with PVC membrane, and roof-top planters with waterproofing. LZI supported the project during construction and provided support of the performance mock-up, submittal and shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, progress site visit reviews, exterior facade testing program and observations.
