Challenge
LZI developed scoping documents, conducted peer reviews, and is providing construction administration support on behalf of the County’s representative, RBB Architects, on the 72-acre medical campus redevelopment, initially constructed in the 1960’s. The design-build project, currently in construction by Hensel Phelps features several make-ready projects and the construction of a 45,000 SF acute care inpatient tower (IPT) with 346 beds, a helicopter landing pad, and a warehouse; a 370,000 SF outpatient treatment and support building (OPT) and 508,000 SF above-grade parking structure; a 23,000 SF facilities and IT support building, a 34,000 SF regional laboratory building, and a new 11,000 SF central plant. The project features the following exterior enclosure assemblies: pre-applied and post-applied bonded sheet waterproofing for the below grade, fluid-applied waterproofing for the tunnels, terrace and plaza areas, rainscreen metal panels over continuous insulation with fluid-applied air-water barrier, seismic expansion joints, sheet metal flashings, single-ply PVC and modified bitumen low-slope roofing. LZI supported the project during construction by providing submittal and shop drawing reviews, and assisting with RFI response.
