Szymon Zienkiewicz is a licensed professional engineer in California, Nevada, and Arizona and has a strong technical background, and diverse project expertise in solving complex building enclosure challenges related to air, water, vapor and thermal control in the design, renovation, and investigation of buildings. His area of practice focuses on CSI Division 7-Thermal and Moisture Protection, 8-Doors and Windows, and 9-Finishes, with emphasis on air barriers, coatings, expansion joints, exterior wall claddings, fenestration systems, insulation, interior waterproofing, and roofing, and general building science.

Having consulted to building owners, developers, architects, and contractors on commercial, healthcare, institutional, both existing and new, Mr. Zienkiewicz is fluent in many project delivery methods, building construction types, construction process challenges, and client expectations. Mr. Zienkiewicz has consulted in various capacities on over 500 projects, and a few of his more prominent engagements include the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center ED/OR/SPD Addition and Expansion in Woodland Hills, the Edwards Lifesciences Campus Expansion in Irvine, the LAX Terminal Cores Project in Los Angeles, and City National North Tower 51st/52nd Floor Renovation in downtown Los Angeles.

Mr. Zienkiewicz is a past Region V Director and Board Member (2018-2022) of IIBEC (formerly the Roof Consultants Institute /RCI, Inc.), a leading international association of building envelope consultants of over 3,500 members located primarily in the US and Canada. He holds several IIBEC consulting credentials pertaining to roofing, exterior walls, and waterproofing, and is a Registered Building Enclosure Consultant (RBEC). Locally, he has held many Chapter board positions since 2007, organized educational events for members, and presented at seminars. Mr. Zienkiewicz was involved in IIBEC’s Emerging Professionals and Chapter Development Committees and has contributed to IIBEC for over 15 years. In 2016, he received IIBEC’s, Inc. Emerging Professional Award of Excellence. He currently co-chairs IIBEC’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Force.
