Ivan Chak joined LZI in 2017 as a project manager. He is a licensed professional engineer registered by the state of California and has over ten years of experience working as a building enclosure consultant. He has a strong technical background and wide breadth of experience solving issues pertaining to the exterior envelope in the design, renovation, and investigation of buildings. His area of practice focuses on CSI Divisions 7-Thermal and Moisture Protection, 8-Doors and Windows, and 9-Finishes, with knowledge on air barriers, exterior wall claddings, building science, fenestration, roofing and waterproofing systems.
Throughout his career, Mr. Chak has provided consulting services to clients including building owners, developers, architects and contractors, and has extensive familiarity with commercial, healthcare, and higher education projects in both existing building and new construction aspects. He has experience in a wide range of project delivery methods and building construction types, and has contributed his industry expertise and unique skillset to over 300 projects. Several of his more prominent engagements include the Children’s Hospital of OC Southwest Tower in Orange, CA, Caltech Hameetman Center in Pasadena, CA, City of Coronado Community Center Re-Roof in Coronado, CA, and the Sony Akio Morita Building in Culver City, CA.
Mr. Chak is a past President of the IIBEC Southern California Chapter, a regional chapter of IIBEC (International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants, formerly RCI, Inc.), a leading international association of building envelope consultants, and a past member of the Chapter Development Committee for the national IIBEC organization. He has been an active member of IIBEC since 2015. He holds several IIBEC consulting credentials pertaining to roofing and is a Registered Roofing Consultant (RRC).
