LZI provided building enclosure investigation, design peer review, and construction administration service for the building renovation of the former Bank of America Building originally constructed in 1974. The renovation of the five level over one level of subterranea parking, 300,000 GSF, Type 1A building comprised of the exterior facade replacement of the existing travertine stone cladding with new unitized curtain wall and rainscreen GRFC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) cladding, replacement and addition of roof-top HVAC equipment, addition of elevator tower and penthouse, roof repairs, partial roof replacement with TPO single ply membrane roofing, and the conversive of the interior building core to a new 4,200 GSF exterior courtyard with planters. LZI completed an initial enclosure assessment, design peer review, courtyard waterproofing, exterior wall cladding (GFRC panels over AWB, cement plaster cladding), unitized curtain wall and storefronts, sheet metal flashings, MB (modified bituminous) roof repairs and TPO replacement roof assembly. LZI supported the project during construction and assisted with the performance mock-up, submittal and shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, progress site visit reviews, exterior facade testing program and observations.
